I'm a Museum Studies graduate student living in Oakland with my partner and our three semi-excellent cats. I moved to San Francisco from southern California to go to college. Seems to be a lot of us up here, and for good reason. Before I was working in museums I got a BA in Anthropology and before that enjoyed two misspent years as a photojournalism major.
Photography, homebrewing, and vegan cooking are my primary hobbies. On any given day you might find me shuffling through my (completely overwhelming) cookbook collection, looking for my next big food challenge. Or you might find me editing hundreds of photographs from last night's event, or a recent adventure, or a wedding.
I have a large personal library of books and video games and love to read just about anything I can get my hands on, especially if it's by Sam Delany or Angela Carter. If I'm not cooking chances are I'm building a castle in Minecraft, quelling the reaper threat in Mass Effect, or punching giant money spiders (giant spiders that drop money)(what does a spider need with money anyway) in Dragon Age.
It's probably no surprise that I'm a big fan of the internet. I love to deconstruct gender in gaming culture and post good stories about food. If I ever find myself with spare cash it almost definitely goes toward vintage cameras, collected by scouring the very depths of eBay and haggling at some of the Bay Area's crowded flea markets.
I am a also big fan of huggin' on animals. My cats Boris, Rhubarb, and Gordon (of Half Life fame) are a constant joy and occasional frustration. I desperately want to adopt a dog, but also desperately want to keep my apartment, so I try to live vicariously through my friends with them.
All of the photos on this blog are my own unless otherwise stated. All are uploaded under a Creative Commons license; feel free to use them so long as you're 1. not selling anything 2. drop a quick attribution link. I always love it when people ask to use my photos before they post them, but I ain't gonna get mad at anyone if they don't.
Let's be excellent to one another.
